Nation’s Triathlon 2011: The Saga Begins

It’s May, and that means at least two things: Tucson is warming up, and Jennie must be getting ready to start training for an event with Team In Training! I had such a great time at the Nation’s Triathlon last year that I have decided to head back for a second year. On September 11, 2011, I will suit up for another swim in the lovely Potomac River, a bike ride through the scenic D.C./Maryland countryside, and a 10k run around the monuments and through the cherry trees as a member of Team In Training.

This year my cousin Chris will be joining me for the fun (hi, Chris!) It would be more fun if we could actually train together, but since we live on opposite sides of the country we’ll have to be content with egging each other on from our respective states and meeting up for the race itself.

With the completion of this triathlon I will earn my double “Triple Crown” (at least two marathons, two century rides, and two triathlons with Team In Training). That is exciting, but the most important part of this whole venture is the money that is raised to help find a cure for blood cancer. My goal this season is to raise $4000. Easy peasy, right? With your help, by the time the race rolls around in September together we will have raised over $20,000 since 2005. It is pretty amazing what we can do together!

How can you help? You can make a secure, online donation right now by visiting this website and help in the fight to find a cure!

I’ll be updating this blog regularly with news about training and fundraising, so check back often to find out how things are going!

Go Team!
